Start where you are.
Grow into what’s next.

If you want a counsellor who’ll hold you with compassion—but won’t let you off the hook—I’m your person.

I believe counselling is for everyone. Why? Because everyone deserves to feel supported, validated, connected, and to find peace of mind. Counselling, coaching, and therapy can help with all that—and more.

In my practice, I blend structured, goal-focused work with a curious, open, and empathetic space for those ready to dive deep into self-exploration. Outgoing and down-to-earth, I’m all about honesty, authenticity, and fierce compassion. When you work with me, you can expect empathy, unconditional positive regard, and just the right amount of straight talk to keep things real.

A bit about me: I came to Waterloo in 2007 to earn my Master of Arts in Religion and Culture from Wilfrid Laurier University. In 2016, my passion for helping others led me back to Laurier to complete my Master of Social Work (MSW). I began my career in the non-profit sector, supporting marginalized communities, kids and teens, couples, survivors of intimate partner violence and sexual assault, and individuals facing severe mental health challenges.

In 2018, I launched my private practice, deepening my expertise—especially around complex anxiety disorders. I’ve collaborated with doctors, psychiatrists, crisis teams, and wellness practitioners to provide well-rounded, thoughtful support. I’m a lifelong learner, always seeking new training, workshops, and research to keep my practice fresh and effective.

My approach

Therapy isn't one-size-fits-all, and I don’t believe in cookie-cutter solutions. I pull from a range of evidence-based approaches to meet you where you are and tailor support to your unique needs and goals.

I’m trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and I often incorporate elements of Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Mindfulness. That means we’ll have a solid toolkit to work with—whether you’re navigating big emotions, sticky thought patterns, or just trying to feel a little more like yourself again.

We’ll use what works for you. And we’ll keep it real along the way.

Get started with Kathryn, today.
